As the Chief Information & Data Officer (CIDO) at Delek US, I bring a wealth of professional experience to my current role. Our team’s collective expertise spans diverse industries, providing us with a unique perspective and groundbreaking execution abilities. Together, we architect innovative solutions that drive Delek’s success.
Continuous learning and knowledge sharing are fundamental values at the core of our educational endeavors. As an Adjunct Lecturer at Tel-Aviv University and the Technion, there is a commitment to teaching Big Data Technologies, Data Science, and Data Visualization. This role as CIDO at Delek includes mentoring young professionals who are entering the Data & Analytics workforce, contributing to their growth and development.
Beyond the academic sphere, there is a sense of responsibility in representing Israel on international platforms. Participation in forums such as MIT’s CDOIQ and volunteering in global affairs committees offer opportunities to contribute to society and gain insights from diverse cultural contexts. These experiences enrich the collective understanding and foster a global perspective.
How are you developing the data literacy of your organization, including the skills of your data teams and of your business stakeholders?
Under my strategic leadership, Delek’s IT organization has transformed. We’ve implemented technology enablement heatmaps and benchmarking exercises, identifying areas for improvement. By streamlining our organizational structure and reducing redundant layers, we’ve achieved greater efficiency and cost savings.
Our team’s Data initiatives have directly impacted business value. From launching Beyond Visual Line of Sight autonomous flights for infrastructure inspection to creating 3D model maps of refineries, we’ve enhanced efficiency, safety, and reliability.
Our data literacy program involves 65 Power BI-trained users, driving insights from over 2300 report views across 30 data sources in the Delek Data Hub. Our commitment to data standardization ensures a continuous rollout of new data products for informed decision-making.
How are you preparing your organization for AI adoption and change management?
Early in our journey with Delek, we recognized the importance of integrating IT and operational technology (OT). We championed digital transformation by establishing an IT & OT Security Operations Centre (SOC) and an emergency remote monitoring and support hub for refineries. Cybersecurity and operational resilience remain at the forefront of our vision.
As an organization, we’re creating a Centre of Excellence for AI. Strategic partnerships with vendors enable us to execute AI-centric initiatives that harness its power. Our roadmap includes adopting existing and upcoming AI-based tools, enriching technologies with embedded AI and Data Layers. Delek aims to be an industry pioneer, leveraging AI for long-term success.
